Volvo’s Short-Swing Compact Excavators Help You Work Out Of A Jam

Volvo

With powerful, fuel-efficient Volvo engines, a perfectly matched hydraulic system and a robust body, the Volvo ECR25D, ECR35D, ECR40D, ECR50D and ECR58D short-swing radius excavators offer remarkable productivity, stability, ease-of-use and safety when working in confined or restricted conditions.

When space is in short supply, the ECR25D, ECR35D, ECR40D, ECR50D and ECR58D short-swing radius compact excavators from Volvo Construction Equipment are in their element. Even with their compact size, the D-Series compact excavators boast digging performance, breakout and tear out forces, and lifting capabilities that rival their larger counterparts. These machines also feature engines that offer superior performance and reduced fuel consumption.

Getting around site on these compact machines has never been easier thanks to automatic two-speed travel for optimised traction, as well as hydraulic travel pedals for easy and accurate track control. The ECR25D has the added feature of high mobility: it can be transported with up to three buckets and a hydraulic breaker on a small trailer and still weigh less than 3.5 tonnes, including the trailer. Four accessible tie-down points further aid easy and safe transportation.

SUPER SUPERSTRUCTURES

Featuring a narrow body design and centrally positioned boom on the ECR58D, the superstructure on these ECR models is so compact that its rear swings within its track shoe, and the ECR25D only exceeds track width when equipped with an additional counterweight. This means that the excavator can get extremely close to objects without risk of collision with the rear of the machine as it swings. The short front/rear radius is also well suited to working within a single highway lane, minimising disruption to the flow of traffic. This feature can sometimes be a prequalification condition on contracts.

The ECR25D, ECR35D, ECR40D, ECR50D and ECR58D are available with a mono-boom, several arm configurations and blade for greater flexibility. Thanks to their reinforced, three-piece, high-tensile steel X-shaped frame undercarriage, they are durable and reliable, able to withstand the rigours of demanding work environments.

The D-Series comes equipped with standard quick couplers and a new and extensive range of genuine Volvo attachments.

ECR excavators also offer class-leading digging depths.

Quickly positioning the machine is easy, with slew and offset movements controlled simultaneously with a joystick that’s precise and effortless to use. Superior hydraulics and pump flow also help provide faster cycle times and better digging performance.

IMPRESSIVE EFFICIENCY

Volvo

With state-of-the-art technology including Volvo’s unique ECO mode and load-sensing hydraulics, Volvo Compact Excavators deliver low fuel consumption with high digging power and fast cycle times. The ECO mode reduces fuel consumption by up to 10 per cent without any loss of performance in most operating conditions, while the load-sensing hydraulics supply power only when required.

The efficiency is further enhanced by the automatic idling system and automatic engine shut down function, which reduces engine speed and shuts the engine down, when the controls or machine have been inactive for a pre-set amount of time.

BUILT IN COMFORT

The industry-leading Volvo ROPS, TOPS and FOPS air-conditioned cab boasts all-round visibility from large expanses of glass, ergonomically-positioned controls and switches, excellent noise insulation, as well as superior leg and head room. The seat and consoles are mounted on the same suspension and therefore, move together, providing excellent shock and vibration absorption for a smooth ride.

The controls are easy to operate, with simultaneous boom offset movement and fingertip control of the slew that delivers easy and fast machine positioning with outstanding control and comfort. The cab is safe and easy to access, thanks to the wide-opening door, anti-slip step and three-point safety grip system.

PLUG AND PLAY

With two factory fitted auxiliary hydraulic circuits the D-Series is also able to be fitted with a selection of perfectly-matched attachments, increasing its productivity further still. Using the keypad controls inside the cab, the operator can easily adjust the auxiliary hydraulic flows and benefit from the correct speed and power for optimal attachment operation.

By simply pressing the hydraulic quick coupler switch, the operator can easily change tasks and swap attachments without leaving the cab. This quick and efficient system increases versatility and productivity while also meeting the latest safety regulations.

SMALL BUT SPACIOUS

Though small, these D-Series ECR excavators provide a superior operator experience – and a comfortable operator environment naturally delivers higher productivity. Comfort is delivered by an adjustable seat, superior vibration and noise insulation, ergonomic armrests, ideally placed controls and a large floor area for increased foot space.
