With a background in concreting, Andrew Farrugia had worked around machinery for many years before deciding to tackle the niche market of constructing rock walls. Inspired by an interstate friend who had made a success in constructing rock walls, around five years ago, Andrew established Sydney Rockwall Constructions.
“When deciding on the best equipment solution for the business, I had been impressed by the outstanding performance of two Takeuchi track loaders that had been used in the family business. These machines had never missed a beat, so that was good enough for me,” said Andrew.
Today, Sydney Rockwall Constructions builds rock walls for landscape and site stabilisation for major civil construction companies and private residential work throughout the Sydney region.
“I carried out a lot of research when I was looking for a machine and was attracted by the Takeuchi TB2150 excavator, which has a unique pivot boom configuration. This feature allows the TB2150 to function like smaller Takeuchi excavators. Constant lifting of stone blocks also dictated the need for the hydraulic thumb, as these are used by most other contractors performing similar work,” said Andrew.
“The 15-tonne Takeuchi TB2150 excavator is unique in its class, with the benefit of allowing me to manoeuvre rocks into relatively tight places and with the precision needed to produce the quality results demanded by discerning customers.
“This machine delivers all the functionality, performance, all-day comfort and serviceability I need and its durability is very important when you are spending all day lifting significant weights of stone.
“The TB 2150 is a very safe and productive machine that has lived up to my expectations and has proven its performance.”
