Sydney Trucks & Machinery launches D’Avino Range

It’s been a busy recent period for Sydney Trucks & Machinery (STM), with the family-owned-and-operated business adding to its line-up of new and used trucks and machinery, launching a number of models in the D’Avino range, including the 12 t capacity 120TW dump truck.

STM’s newly launched D’Avino models additionally comprise the DS70 Plus articulated swivel dumper (7 t capacity), the D8 rear-tipping dump truck (8 t capacity) and D12 rear-tipping dump truck (12 t capacity).

Based in Italy, D’Avino draws on over seven decades of machinery production experience, with its range decked out to cater to a variety of customer needs, facilitating efficient and effective operations.

D’AVINO 120TW: MAXIMUM MANOEUVRABILITY
The mid-sized 120TW is D’Avino’s flagship product, with it being the most advanced dump truck the company has ever built, sporting a range of features designed to assist across the scope of operations, providing maximum manoeuvrability, enhanced safety and stability, and delivering operator comfort.

The 120TW, which runs an 83kW Perkins 1104 Tier IIIA engine, sports features including:

  • High-performance drivetrain – a D’Avino four-speed, 4WD automotive hydrostatic transmission ensures high torque and power output, with constant traction to the wheels during speed shift, allowing the 120TW to safely operate to a maximum gradient of 40 per cent with a full load.

Meanwhile, an independent inching control pedal is designed to help the operator complete any tasks with maximum precision, and the front swivel axle and differentials lock system guarantee maximum traction and grip with any ground condition.

  • Double steering axle and rigid chassis – the D’Avino four wheels/three-mode steering system provides for increased manoeuvrability in confined spaces, reducing by 25 per cent the turning radius compared to conventional articulated machines in the same category.

The system includes ‘crab steering mode’, allowing the operator to safely approach trenches and working areas on a single manoeuvre, while the rigid chassis and D’Avino steering system make the 120TW a unique platform for high-level railway customisation.

  • Enclosed cabin with triple view – a wide, enclosed air-conditioned cabin is designed to meet FOPS II and ROPS standards, with it bringing together both comfort and safety features for the operator.

The driving platform can be hydraulically rotated 180 degrees inside the cabin, which allows a forward view while driving in both directions, with this feature ensuring high safety while operating in any conditions, and can prove very beneficial when working in tight spaces or low-visibility environments, such as tunnels or remote areas.

Meanwhile, when unloading on the right-hand side of the machine, the operator can lock the driving platform sideways facing to maintain high visibility and precision.

  • Certified Hardox skip – the 120TW’s high-volume skip is manufactured using Hardox 450 abrasion-resistant steel, setting a new benchmark in the industry. The 180-degree swivel frame is mounted on a reinforced slewing bearing, designed to ensure maximum performance within the three sides dumping area, while the front axle stability locking system guarantees high safety during unloading operations.

D’AVINO DS70 PLUS: ROBUST AND RELIABLE
Designed to deliver enhanced stability, with a focus on robustness and reliability, D’Avino’s DS70 features a compact form factor, and is decked out with a range of features to assist the operator in getting the job done.

Powered by a 52.1 kW Yanmar Diesel Tier IIIA engine, the DS70 Plus features a 4WD automotive hydrostatic transmission (two forward and two reverse gears), and is capable of a maximum driving speed of 30 km/h.

The DS70 driving platform features a foldable ROPS protection frame, and is fitted out with a Grammer Deluxe seat, while it is equipped with a certified Hardox 450 abrasion-resistant skip, with the 180-degree swivel skip capable of unloading on three sides.

With 7 t payload and a heaped capacity of 3600L, the DS70 offers an increased productivity and efficiency in terms of material moved during worksite operations.
