Shore Hire: Bigger and better

Shoring and propping specialist Shore Hire’s new head office is officially open.

Shore Hire has expanded with a new head office located at 166 Eldridge Road, Condell Park, in New South Wales.

The new purpose-built facility features state-of-the-art amenities, and in true Shore Hire fashion, includes a couple of eye-catching innovations, such as internal walls made out of modular aluminium shoring box panels.

The new building is testament to the company’s growth over the past 16 years, and is expected to help it continue offering outstanding customer service to the industry.

In addition to the new head office, Shore Hire recently acquired a 136,000 square metre site on the South Coast of New South Wales to help expand its repair and manufacturing capacity.

The facility is also better suited to larger equipment, such as the Shore Brace 400 Hydraulic Bracing extensions and taller trench sheets and sheet piles.

The Shore Brace 400 is a modular hydraulic bracing system comprising of various sized extension beams that are double-pinned and connected to a high-load capacity hydraulic ram.

Shore Hire’s trench sheets and sheet piles – used for temporary shoring applications – have been designed for quick and easy installation and extraction, with profiles and lengths able to be supplied to suit any application.

Earthmoving Equipment Magazine spoke to Shore Hire Manufacturing Manager Nathan Spinner about the new facility and its benefits for the company as a business as well as its customers.

How does the facility in Moss Vale contribute to Shore Hire’s Australian manufacturing abilities?
Nathan: “The new facility is in close proximity to Sydney but also not too far from Melbourne. We have a larger site here which allows us to move more oversized products around safely.

“We’ve moved into an already-built factory where we’ve set up our manufacturing work cells. We can get our repairs into those work cells pretty nicely, cleanly, and safely.”

How does this facility here in Moss Vale support and contribute to the local area?
Nathan: “The facility, like Shore Hire’s goal,is to try to use as many local suppliers as we possibly can.

“There’s a significant industry here up through Moss Vale into Mittagong.
“We’ll definitely be leaning on them for the  supply of raw materials and other subcontract services. But we’re also able to employ locals.

“We’ll need to ramp up our repairs and manufacturing areas so that we can service our customers through the hire services that we offer.”

The head office features walls made out of modular aluminium shoring box panels.

How does this new facility help Shore Hire’s customers?
Nathan: “I think the new facility is certainly going to assist Shore Hire and its customers by improving our turnaround time on repairs, ensuring our repairs are done efficiently and safely.

“We have to deliver a high-quality product to our customers that is safe and reliable on-site, and we can certainly do that here.”

How does this expansion in Moss Vale  strengthen Shore Hire’s position in the current market?

Nathan: “This particular facility allows us an opportunity to add new products to our range.

“We support our engineering services far better by having space to manufacture products, complete repairs, and store larger products.”

What notable achievements have been made since Shore Hire purchased this property?
Nathan: “Since occupying the facility in January 2024, we’ve been able to set up a purpose-built manufacturing area with all our manufacturing work cells in place.

“We’re able to get the products into the facility efficiently with really good access and plenty of space to manoeuvre products safely.

“We’re looking to ramp up our labour workforce and start repairing and manufacturing products for the hire fleet.”

What are you excited about for this facility?

Nathan: “I’m certainly excited about the location; it’s a nice place to come to work.

“Anyone who takes on the opportunity at Shore Hire is certainly going to appreciate a really nice setting, great equipment, outlook, and a safe work environment.

“We’re also very excited about supporting the hire fleet, repairing things quickly and efficiently, and getting them back into our customer’s hands.”
