Having made a name for itself in its home country of Finland and across Europe over more than 30 years, engineering company Remu is looking to expand its global footprint by increasing its presence in Australia.
Remu manufactures innovative soil and material handling equipment, screening and crushing buckets, as well as pontoon platforms for excavators to enable dredging and excavation work even in the most challenging environments.
Remu is now spreading its wings into Australia and showcased its products at the recent Diesel Dirt & Turf Expo in Sydney, with the buckets and amphibious excavators stealing the show.
Remu Business Development Manager Pavel Syrtsov was delighted with the response at the stand and inquiries from visitors about the equipment.
“We see Australia as a large market for us. There are a lot of opportunities for our products to get into customers’ hands,” he said.
“Our goal at DDT was to learn the markets, establish our presence and build the network of contacts.”
Remu plans to maintain a sufficient stock of its products in Australia. Buckets from the expo have already been transported to Brisbane and are available for purchase.
Remu’s expansion plans were also recently boosted by a distribution collaboration with the BA Equipment Group, a leading Australian supplier of excavator attachments, with offices in Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia.
Remu sales manager Jonathan Goo said the company was excited to have BA Equipment Group join the network of Remu dealers.
“Their experience on the Australian market, their channels to distribute our attachments and committed and professional team, are great asset to us.” Jonathan said.
“We look forward supporting them in their efforts to provide our quality products to end-customers in different industries within Australia.”
Pavel noted that Remu’s philosophy centered around having happy customers. “Understanding our customers is a foundation for product development that is often carried out in cooperation with customers,” he said.
“It is no surprise that the best ideas come from the people who work with our products. We apply this understanding and in-house engineering to guarantee ongoing product development to boost performance and create value for our customers.”
Bucket business
Remu screening buckets have a long history dating back to the late 80s. Recent models have gone through rigorous development.
The buckets efficiently sift through dry, wet, or clumpy topsoil to remove debris, rocks, and other unwanted materials, ensuring high- quality soil for landscaping, gardening, and construction projects.
“They are compatible with a wide range of machinery types, including excavators, skid steers and loaders, making it suitable for use in diverse environments and project sizes, from small-scale gardening to large-scale construction,” Pavel said.
“Customisable options include different rotor and blade types and configurations to meet specific project requirements, providing flexibility and versatility in screening operations. Precise screening can be achieved based on desired particle size.
“By reducing the volume of waste sent to landfill, screening buckets help mitigate environmental impacts such as pollution, habitat destruction, and greenhouse gas emissions associated with waste disposal.
“This proactive approach to waste management promotes environmental sustainability and supports circular economy principles.”
With Remu screening buckets, the process of separating and preparing site material for re-use is streamlined, minimising the time and labour required for manual sorting and screening.
This increased efficiency accelerates project timelines, allowing for faster completion and delivery of projects.
Big Float
Big Float is the name of Remu’s unique tracked pontoon undercarriage that transforms excavators into amphibious machines.
“Some call it a marsh buggy, swamp excavator or floating excavator, it’s all the same,” Pavel said.
“With a REMU pontoon undercarriage, your excavator will have access to the most challenging environments.”
On soft ground or in shallow water areas, floating excavators on pontoon undercarriage are often the most effective machines. Big Floats can also be driven on solid land, and with additional equipment they can safely operate on open water.
Some of the main uses include for dredging and silt removal, removing aquatic vegetation and weed control, restoration of wetland and coast lines, maintaining waste ponds and tailings sites , and reusing dredged material.
“We manufacture and supply the entire undercarriage conversion kit which replaces the standard excavator undercarriage with the pontoon undercarriage system,” Pavel said.
