When heavy industry operators need reliable and robust construction wheel products, OTR Tyres-Wheels-Axles is often the first point of contact.
OTR is renowned for manufacturing robust, high-quality wheels, axles and tyres for the construction, mining, industrial and agricultural markets.
This strength and scale is best exemplified by OTR’s construction wheel range. The business stocks the most comprehensive range of wheels for mining and earthmoving equipment, with major brands including Bell, Caterpillar, Hitachi, Komatsu and Volvo.
Manufactured with the most durable materials on the market, it includes industrial and port wheels, mobile crane wheels, bulk haulage wheels and custom designed construction wheels.
OTR product manager and business development manager Greg Lowe, who leads the development of business in the mining, construction and industrial product market segments, said the business didn’t just make products: it also carried out testing and repairs, including wear and damage assessment, MPI testing, repainting and recertification, or full wheel repair.
“OTR products can be found in all off-road applications across Australia, including mining, construction, industrial, agricultural, and even military vehicles,” he said.
They include wheels and tyres that suited skid steers, articulated dump trucks, wheel loaders, graders and backhoes.
“We have thousands of different wheel options available for the construction market, and with a tyre to suit every option,” Greg said.
And while off-the-shelf stock is critical, if OTR doesn’t have an item in stock, it can manufacture it.
“We have two dedicated manufacturing facilities right here in Australia. We also produce custom wheel designs. If it is round, we will make it,” Greg said.
“Our customers include many OEMs, aftermarket replacement, or customers who are looking for a solutions provider and better product that will provide them with a better cost per hour per kilometre.
“The earthmoving industry is competitive, with new brands frequently entering the Australian and international market, or existing brands rolling out new models.
“This isn’t a problem for OTR, as we can cater to all needs. If we don’t have a product in our range, we have the ability to design and manufacture it.
“We are currently manufacturing custom axles, wheels and supplying tyres to an overseas client who is manufacturing a large grain ship loader. As part of the process, our engineering team has worked closely with the client’s engineering team to come up with the specific axles and wheels that aren’t available off the shelf. This is one of our main strengths of OTR being a local manufacturer.”
This versatility is further supported by OTR’s nation-wide coverage, with branches around the country, with an experienced team that can assess clients’ needs.
OTR has six branches based in Western Australia and another four on the east coast in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
“We’re the only Australian manufacturer, with an experienced team on the ground across the country, meaning we can engineer all our products specifically for Australian conditions,” Greg said.
“Our team is across all the issues customers might encounter with their wheels and tyres. We’re able to rectify any issues with OEM products, then manufacture better, stronger alternatives.”
OTR continually works with customers to improve the designs.
“The wheel is the most integral part of a tyred vehicle. Every aspect of design and development is unique for each application,” Greg said.
Through research and development, OTR is always looking for ways to improve the performance and efficiency of its products.
The experienced sales team are also always on hand to assist with wheel and tyre needs.
“From a new wheel, through to recertification of your wheel needs, talk to our team, we have the experience to guide you,” Greg said.
With the Australia-wide coverage, OTR delivers quality products and service with fast turnaround times.
All wheels and rims go through full inspection and testing process. OTR testing and repairing processes are in accordance to AS4457.1 standards.
“Our in-house wheel inspection, repair and recertification services are performed by our fully trained staff carrying out the recertification process and ensure wheels meet the reverent standards,” Greg said.
The Australian-owned company operates on core values of integrity, customer service and getting the job done safely.
Formed in 2017, the business acquired Titan Australia in 2022.
“Titan Australia, now OTR, has been a successful operational business in Australia for over 25 years, manufacturing wheels and axles with facilities across the country supporting all market sectors,” Greg said.
