Komatsu Australia has recently expanded its service and support operations in the Central Queensland region, including adding two resident technicians in Clermont and one in Barcaldine along with increasing capabilities at its Emerald branch facility.
These increased capabilities have allowed the branch, which has been in operation for the past 10 years, to move to a full 24/7 operation, allowing it to improve response times to customers.
According to Darryl Anderson, Komatsu’s Emerald Branch Manager, the expansion has been driven by customer demand, machine population in the region, and understanding the needs of customers.
“We’re responding to customer and industry demand, with our philosophy very much being to have local people supporting local people,” he said.
“With our increased technician base, we have gained experience which allows us to work on a variety of makes and models.”
“Our resident service technicians at Clermont and Barcaldine are complemented by increased capabilities at its Emerald branch – the primary service centre for the Bowen Basin mining industry.”
These expanded capabilities include:
- Installing new hydraulic cylinder benches, giving the ability to overhaul any size cylinder up to the largest mining equipment
- Additional auto electricians, giving increased capacity to maintain and service all auto electrical faults as well as air conditioning repairs on earthmoving equipment.
- Increased workshop capabilities, to maintain and overhaul machine components locally
- Bringing in a 100 tonne mobile track press capable.
