JCB excavators made for manoeuvrability

JCB excavators continue to be in demand at construction and earthmoving sites, and for very good reasons.

Businesses value the design of JCB excavators, which are manufactured for productivity, along with class-leading ease of maintenance, tough components and exceptional operator comfort.

Believing in built-in excellence, JCB aims for excavator machine efficiency in typical JCB style – by striving for maximum performance, strength, comfort, efficiency, safety and productivity.

JCB believes that one of the most important principles of designing hydraulic excavators successfully is the importance of putting the operator at the heart of the design. That means making the excavators as easy, productive, safe and fatigue-free as possible.

Mini excavators

Ranging from 1 tonne to 9t, the small but tough JCB mini diggers are built to work. Like all JCBs, they boast exceptional build quality, superb reliability and colossal strength.

Large excavators

JCB offers a large range of track machines from 13t to 37 t. Designed and developed using JCB’s efficient design philosophy, the excavators are equipped with a host of efficiency, performance, comfort and safety innovations.

Wheeled excavators

JCB’s wheeled excavator range includes the award-winning Hydradig 110W and JS20MH wheeled material handler.

The JCB JZ140

Among the larger excavators, JCB’s 14t model, the JCB JZ140, has been turning heads as an extremely productive reduced tail swing tracked excavator.

JCB CEA National Sales Manager – JCB Heavy Line Products, Paul Fairhurst, said the JCB JZ140 is a reduced tail swing excavator that’s ideal for construction sites with limited space.

This might include:

  • Urban building sites: Because the JZ140 can manoeuvre well in tight spaces, it’s suited for construction projects in crowded urban developments.
  • Residential sites: The JZ140’s size and manoeuvrability make it ideal for excavating foundations and trenches on residential construction sites.
  • Roadwork: The JZ140 can be used for digging trenches, demolition, and other tasks during road construction projects.
  • Railway work: Its size and precision make the JZ140 suitable for digging trenches and other excavation tasks near railways.
The JZ140 can manoeuvre well in tight spaces, making it ideal for construction projects in crowded urban developments.

Paul said the 14-tonne reduced tail swing tracked excavator is ideal for working in tight spaces due to its superior manoeuvrability.

“It’s known for its productivity and efficiency with features like a high-strength rigid upper frame, durable door design, and an EcoMAX engine,” he said.

“Its precise controls and strong tearout force make it suitable for a variety of applications.” Compared to a conventional excavator, the JZ140 also offers greater safety.

Because the tail movement is easier to predict and control, safety and operator confidence are increased significantly.

The excavator is fitted with a rear-view camera as standard, and users can choose to add a side-view unit.

An all-new step layout has improved access to the upper structure. The main valve block is located under the steps for easy inspection.

A 70/30 front screen split gives excellent front visibility. A clear view of the front right track provides easy, safe trench digging and manoeuvring.

Paul said the JZ140 has been part of the JCB line up for more than 10 years.

“With upgrades since its initial launch focussed on greater efficiency and operator comfort, it has stood the test of time with its narrow yet robust design,” he said.

All filters on a JZ140 are easily accessible thanks to the large bay doors that open wide and provide unobstructed access.

“Engine oil, hydraulic oil and fuel filters are centrally located for fast, straightforward servicing,” Paul said.

“The air filter is also easy to find, and has a double-element construction to simplify cleaning.”

The banked greasing feature makes servicing faster and more straightforward.

Because the JCB JZ140 excavator’s EcoMAX engine doesn’t need exhaust after treatment, it doesn’t require costly heat-resistant lube oils.

A revised filter layout means that this excavator’s engine oil, hydraulic oil and fuel filters are centrally located for fast, straightforward servicing.

The air filter is also easy to find, and has a double-element construction to simplify cleaning. The engine radiator, hydraulic cooler and intercooler are mounted side-by-side, so they can be serviced individually yet cleaned easily.

JCB’s In-Cab Monitor checks the tracked excavator’s engine oil levels, coolant, and system errors on start-up.

Unlike most Tier 4i engines, JCB EcoMAX doesn’t use a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or SCR, saving on additional running costs.

The wide core cooling pack option has wider fins to prevent costly blockages in the cooling pack.

A JCB JZ140 excavator’s reinforced boom and dipper is made of high tensile strength steel, lwith internal baffle plates for long life durability. In addition, heavy-duty wear strips are fitted at the dipper end for increased durability.

The advanced manufacturing and assembly processes produce high precision premium quality assembled components.

As well as the EcoMAX engine, there are Berco running gear, Kawasaki pumps and Kayaba main control valves.

The tracked excavator’s high-strength rigid upper frame provides maximum durability and support, while its stiff durable door design offers added strength and rigidity.

An all-new step layout has improved access to the upper structure.

JCB’s all-new easy-to-use quickhitch system makes attachment changing quicker and easier, and is purpose-designed for the JS tracked excavator range.

A standard dozer blade increases versatility when grading. Choose the optional rubber street pads and the excavator can be used on sensitive ground like tarmac without causing damage.

Simultaneous tracking and excavating is smooth and fast with an intuitive multifunction operation.

Proportional controls offer precise command over attachments and in tasks where you need to perform fine adjustments.

Paul said there were currently many attractive deals available on current inventory, such as:
