Next Auction scheduled for Thursday 3rd November 2016.
As the plant and machinery market in Australia shifts its focus from equipment for the mining sector to machines to satisfy demand from a thriving local construction sector, Euro Auctions is finalising arrangements for its next ‘one-day’ Brisbane auction on Thursday 3rd November 2016 that will see around 600 lots go under the hammer at its Pinkenba near Brisbane, Queensland site.
“The Australia market for used plant and machinery has turned around over recent months and our ‘no reserve’ auctions are now firmly established as an excellent platform for selling and buying all manner of quality used and sometimes even brand new equipment,” explained Joe Rafferty, Euro Auctions’ Country Manager for Australia. “Construction is booming at the moment with house building being the main focus, fuelled in part by significant capital investment from China, but many good sized civil engineering projects are also coming on-stream.”
He continued: “With no indigenous manufacturing, Australia is totally reliant on machinery imports and retains its preference for high-end International brands. With marques like Caterpillar and Komatsu being much sought after and with new equipment commanding a premium, demand for used equipment remains consistently high and prices are strong. Good quality, mid range utility equipment like back hoes, diggers and dozers, along with other smaller items of general site machinery are off particularly interest at the moment.”
A number of large infrastructure projects are poised to start, the largest being the Western Distributor highway, which at US $3.98 billion will create 5,600 jobs and all will require a considerable equipment inventory. Record spending on upcoming infrastructure projects is also expected from the Queensland State Government, further increasing demand for good quality heavy earthmoving machinery.
Therefore of particular note in the upcoming November auction are a number of low hours CAT D8R tracked crawler tractors and the slightly smaller CAT D6R III models, all with low hours; and these are expected to attract considerable interest from bidders and achieve high final bids.
“The mining sector should, however, not be ignored,” concluded Joe Rafferty; “There is huge demand for coal and the iron ore market is at an all time high with exports up. New mines are still opening and existing ones are being regenerated with updated equipment, in a move to increase efficiency. This is creating a strong case for machines that left Australia when mining slowed down, to return to satisfy demand. Heavy loaders and dump trucks in particularly are highly sought after. Some big crushing and screening equipment, which could meet demand from either the construction or mining sectors, is also expected to feature in the upcoming sale while other plant is already being ear-marked for the sale in February 2017 – setting things up for this to be the biggest Euro Auction sale ever in Australia.”
