Using the right attachment for the task is not only safer, it reduces downtime, lowers operating and lifetime ownership costs and, most importantly, helps you reduce the cost per tonne of material moved.
CRUSH AND RECYCLE WASTE ONSITE
Perth based contractor John Rystenberg has been in business for over 15 years, providing demolition services in Perth metropolitan area.
Over these years he has seen the gradual increase in tip fees and now, having demolition waste loaded into the back of a waste disposal truck and then taken to the tip has become a massive cost.
‘‘It is not only the tip fees but the time taken to transport it and the wear and tear on the truck, not to mention the fuel cost,’’ says John.
John purchased his first Simex CBE20 Crusher Bucket fitted onto a Cat 12 tonne excavator 10 months ago and has since kept his tip fees down. With the Simex Crusher Bucket old bricks onsite can be crushed into a material that the builder can then use on the building site.
‘‘I am amazed at the efficiency we have achieved with the crusher bucket; it can handle a large amount of material such as bricks, concrete, glass, tiles and asphalt slabs per cycle as well as wet and sticky products,’’ John says.
MORE EFFICIENT OPERATION
Kulpara Quarry saw a 10 per cent increase in yield and 20 per cent reduction in waste after obtaining the SIMEX TF 3000 Twin Header for their operation in South Australia.
The operation produces a wide range of aggregates including rock, rubble, sand for concrete, asphalt, backfill, rail ballast, landscaping, paving and other civil construction applications.
Drilling and blasting has traditionally been used as a method to quarry on fractured rock but it is an inefficient two-stage process.
In winter when it’s wet, blasting cannot be done until the ground is dry and having first and second grade materials being mixed together resulted in high wastage, commented Mark Petersons, Mine Manager of Kulpara mine.
Attached to a 46 tonne Volvo excavator, the TF3000 twin header has now been working 10-hour shifts every weekday regardless of weather conditions ensuring production levels remain steady at 300+ tonnes per hour.
SIMEX Twin Headers can be mounted on carriers from 2.5 up to 60 tonnes and maximum cutting force varies from 13.5 to 103.2 KN depending on the model.
HANDY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT
Adding a versatile PneuVibe compactor plate to their range of attachments has given the GWT earthmoving fleet increased flexibility, allowing them to provide a wider variety of services for their customers.
“Maintaining and updating the plant and machinery fleet is critical for our business and when it was time to invest in a versatile compactor plate we could rely on we came across PneuVibe that suits a wide range of applications,” says Giebel, the owner of GWT Earthmoving in Pine Mountain Queensland.
Attached to a 22 tonne excavator, the PneuVibe CP301 compactor plate has now been operating for over two years, sometimes working every day of the month in a variety of compaction and post driving applications.
“Having now used the PneuVibe, I must say it has proven to be a very handy piece of equipment and I can definitely recommend it for any compacting and post driving application.”
The PneuVibe compactor plates are manufactured in Australia featuring eight models, all of which deliver a class leading frequency and centrifugal force to weight ratio. Their patented rubber design ensures rubber mounts are in compression whilst in operation. This system ensures increased rubber mount life and minimises vibration transmitted to the boom, thus reducing wear on the excavator’s pins and bushings.
PneuVibe compactor plates can be mounted on carriers from 1.5 tonne up to 25+ tonnes and operating is simple as the impulse force generated from the vibration and static down pressure enables compacting of most soil types to required density levels.
All PneuVibe compactor plates include as standard a priority flow valve that protects the hydraulic motor from excess oil flow from the excavator. This feature allows the compactor to be swapped between excavators without having to worry about checking the oil flow to the compactor, perfect for a hire company with many excavators.
In Australia, PneuVibe Compactor plates and SIMEX attachments are distributed through an independent network of highly experienced dealers:
