East-West Coast expansion for OTR

OTR – Tyres Wheels Axles has expanded its presence across the country, with the opening of five East Coast locations and one in WA.

The renowned wheels, tyres and axles supplier recently acquired some of the Beaurepaire tyre network, resulting in new sites in Geraldton in Western Australia, Eastern Creek in New South Wales and in Queensland at Hendra, Gladstone, Mackay and Mount Isa.

OTR General Manager Travis Parsons said the company already had a long and successful history in WA in supplying multiple tyre brands and servicing the mining, agricultural and four wheel drive tyre markets.

“These additional locations enable us to create a connectivity between the East Coast and the West Coast in terms of servicing large commercial account customers in the TBR (truck, bus, radial) market in addition to off-road, mining, agriculture and passenger vehicles,” he said.

“Expansion into these locations is consistent with our strategy to be a one-stop-tyre shop with access to all tyre brands. OTR centres combine all our market segments under one roof where we can provide specialised expertise.”

Streamlined customer service

Travis said the advantage to customers was that they have one account through the business to effectively and equally service all market segments.

“OTR has grown through its experience in the very tough and competitive mining tyre market, which makes us more than qualified and ready to succeed in the TBR (truck and bus radial) market,” he said.

“Customers on the East Coast are also being introduced to our own TerraTyre brand, which is distinguished by its unique combination of Australian design innovation with world-class manufacturing.

“This brand meets rigorous demands and delivers exceptional cost per hour value.

“Their performance has earned a loyal customer base, with many operators and fleet owners consistently selecting the brand.”

Travis said that OTR also had a large proportion of commercial customers with significant vehicle fleets that include the four wheel drive market.

“Since the establishment of the East Coast OTR centres, we have been successful in reaching many businesses that include a mix of four wheel drive vehicles along with their fleet of trucks,” he said.

TR is delivering a full service that spans all markets.

“Businesses that have a mix of road trucks as well as four wheel drive vehicles are being attracted to the services offered through our newly acquired branches.

“Our one-stop approach through our additional locations and skilled technicians means there is no separation of sectors and OTR is delivering a full service that spans all markets.

“In the process of identifying a need for more comprehensive capabilities in mobile service we are expanding the scope of our field service operations which will form a key part of our growth strategy.

“One of our priorities is to capture those customers who have previously not been fully serviced.

“We are currently updating vehicle and equipment assets acquired in the Goodyear/ Beaurepaire purchase. This is to ensure that we have the best fleet of service trucks and technicians who can provide a premium level of in-field and mobile service to our customers.”

Complete field solutions

The structuring of the East Coast service centres is designed to offer a fully integrated service to the large national fleets that operate TBR and four wheel drive vehicles where scheduled servicing is paramount.

“These include not only corporate accounts but local councils and any other customers within our scope of work,” Travis said.

“At the same time, we are being careful not to stretch ourselves too thin and adhere to the service areas that we know we can deliver with great confidence. We fully understand the diverse and often complex differences between markets.”

High level expertise

Travis said OTR had retained all the highly experienced fitters, technicians and supporting sales and administration people from the Goodyear/Beaurepaire outlets, whose knowledge was a great asset in taking OTR forward.

“All staff will be receiving ongoing training in all aspects of tyre fitting to ensure that certifications and WH&S requirements are maintained at the highest level,” he said.

“We are happy with the progress of our East Coast expansion that is bringing OTR operations to all market segments as a one- stop-shop solution, together with single account convenience for major fleet owners and specialised tyre users.”
