DXcore and Miller

Civil contractor DXcore has over the course of 10-plus years of operations established long-term relationships with a number of clients. This Sydney-based business focuses on building a reputation for delivering a high level of service, maintaining open communications with clients and meeting deadlines.

Director John Augoustis said that the business, which was established in 2008, provides services to Local government, along with a range of private sector clients, including Frasers Property Australia, Growthbuilt and Next Constructions.

John, who has been in the civil industry for 15 years and who has a background as a plant operator, mainly operating 3-5 t excavators, said that DXcore’s service offerings encompass all aspects of civil contracting, including stormwater drainage, footpath and driveway construction, and roadworks.

“These days it’s hard to set competitors apart as there are a number of great companies out there,” he told EEM.

“What I tell my crew leaders is that your word and reputation is what makes you stand out, that’s why we focus on ensuring we provide full transparency, and also delivering a product that is on time and on budget.”

DXcore is currently working on a number of projects, one of which is based in Taren Point in Sydney covering a range of civil infrastructure works, including new road construction, asphalt car park and paved footpath works, while it is also working on NBN restoration programs for a number of councils.

Miller GTS Coupler: Safety A Priority

DXcore recently added a Miller GTS coupler to its suite of equipment, with John advising that safety had been a top priority for the business in making the decision.

“When we found ourselves requiring a new hitch for our Kubota U25 excavator, our trusted plant mechanic, George Tsoupis from Repair 1, advised us of the Miller GTS system,” he explained.

“I looked into it, and was impressed with the safety attachment disconnect that ensures personnel and property safety – and, being a contractor that provides a service to local government, we are all about safety, especially when our works are on council roads and footpaths.” UK company Miller draws on over 40 years of experience, having over the years built a global reputation, with it stating that its next generation hydraulic quick coupler is the safest coupler that it has ever made.

The GT Series is suitable for excavators ranging from 1-50 t, with Miller stating it comprises “the lowest, lightest and safest quick coupler on the marketplace”, allowing a wide range of pick-ups for any attachment within the same class, undertaken from the comfort of the cab. The GroundTouch technology intelligent coupler connect system has been designed to reduce the risk of job site accidents, initiating the changing of attachments while on the ground, while quick attachment changes help reduce downtime and improve productivity. Since its installation on the 2.5 t Kubota excavator, John said that the GTS couple  has contributed to efficient operations. “We have had the hitch fitted now for seven months or so, and the operators have said the seamless attachment change is great and easy to operate,” he told EEM.
