CAT’s ambitious new machine delivers enhanced productivity and state-of-the art features, with unprecedented user-friendliness.
Late last year, Caterpillar launched the new Cat PM620 and PM622 profilers, the first in a new line of profilers, at Caterpillar’s Tullamarine headquarters. This is the first time in a decade that Cat has introduced a new product to this segment.
The Cat® PM620 and PM622 Profilers are high-production, highly manoeuvrable half-lane milling machines that perform controlled full-depth removal of asphalt and concrete pavements in a single pass.
The PM620 is equipped with a 2010 mm wide high production rotor and the PM622 is equipped with a 2235 mm wide high production rotor. The maximum cutting depth is 330 mm.
CAT Paving Territory Manager, Chris Powell, and Asia-Pacific Sales Manager, Greg Mumford, took visiting media personnel on a tour of the state-of-the-art Caterpillar Service Learning Centre, and the new Product Distribution Centre.
A Cat C18 ACERT™ engine provides 470 kW (630 hp) of gross power and meets regional emission requirements. Automatic Engine Speed Control optimises output to match the load, reducing excessive fuel consumption and wear. A four-post design with four mode steering and auto-levelling provides smooth operation. A robust propel system provides exceptional traction. True-tracking alignment offers greater steering precision and reduces track pad wear.
The operator’s station features high visibility and dual operating controls designed for comfort and ease of use. An available hydraulically operated canopy quickly deploys and stows without disrupting operation.
Three cutting speeds match the best rotor rpm and torque with the job site conditions.
Automatic Load Control continually evaluates engine rpm, and controls propel speed as required to maintain peak performance.
Optional Cat Diamond Bits offer the ultimate in cutting performance.
Optional integrated Cat Grade Control, a 2D-capable/3D-ready grade and slope system, provides the machines with additional functions such as automatic plunge cut, ramp-in, ramp-out capability, and a jump-hold feature.
A water spray system lubricates the conveyor belt and helps control dust. The 3400-litre water tank can be filled from several different standard and optional ports.
The folding front loading conveyor features height adjustment for raise and lower and a 60° swing to the left and right of centre.
The machines are designed for easy service. Excellent access to critical systems and maintenance points, a computerised monitoring system and available Product Link™ help ensure service is quick and timely.
These new products represent the very latest in Caterpillar innovation and technology, in a market segment that is in genuine need of development in order to meet global demand. The PM620 has had over five years of R&D, and more than $10 million invested in its development.
An Australian customer also had input in the R&D. Australian customers can expect the highest level of priority when it comes to parts or servicing this machine.
