Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) Pty Ltd (HCA) today announces the delivery of the country’s first Bell E-Series Articulated Dump Truck to EB Mawson & Sons, a leading supplier of construction materials headquartered in Victoria.
The Bell B30E ADT has been commissioned at the Lake Boga Quarry, situated four hours North of Melbourne. Mawsons acquired the Lake Boga quarry in 1958 and has a multitude of investments in quarries and concrete plants across Regional Victoria and Southern New South Wales.
Jim Gardner, National Product Manager – Articulated Dump Trucks at HCA states, “The new B30E is a true showcase of Bell’s evolutionary approach to design. Demand for trucks that are more fuel efficient, yet haul higher payloads, continue to drive product advancement in the ADT markets.
“Safety is always a priority for quarry operators and the new B30E is no exception. Incorporating hill start assist and vertical tip angle safety monitoring, the new trucks are also equipped with onboard load weighing and keyless start as standard, to name a few.”
Darren Colville, EB Mawson & Sons’ Lake Boga Quarry Manager said, “Safety is our number one priority. The Bell truck delivers above and beyond when it comes to safety features, with everything from reverse camera and mirror package to onboard inclinometer and weighing system.
“The onboard weighing scale is a standout for us, particularly as we operate in a hard rock quarry. The three accelerometers and external load lights improve load accuracy and prevent overloading. This helps us maximise productivity and reduce our maintenance costs such as tyre and driveline wear.
“At Lake Boga, we prefer to operate articulated trucks due to bench width requirements. These trucks allow us to extract more from the quarry. Bell’s new design makes it easy for our operators when manoeuvring in and out of the pit. They enjoy the comfortable cabin and smooth ride.
