Acquisition amps up Westrac sound suppression offerings

Leading Caterpillar® dealer WesTrac has enhanced its sound suppression capabilities with the recent acquisition of Hushpak Engineering.

Based in Beresfield NSW, Hushpak is an Australian pioneer of noise control solutions, products and technologies for the mining, manufacturing, construction and commercial industries.

Hushpak General Manager Michael Neville said the acquisition provided mutual benefits for both organisations.

“WesTrac now has its own sound suppression design capability, while Hushpak has greater access to product information and machinery experts complementing our skillset,” Michael said.

“This results in products that meet both the sound requirements and the proven Cat product reputation of robustness and reliability.

“Hushpak has worked with WesTrac for many years and this is a natural extension of that very successful relationship.

“We will continue to maintain the same focus across all Hushpak solution areas, providing advanced design and manufacturing services for every make and model of mobile and fixed plant equipment. Hushpak’s capability to service the non-Caterpillar® market has not been affected, as these customers can still engage us as they have always done.

“But now WesTrac customers needing noise control solutions have access to a complete, end-to-end service including installation and testing.”

Michael said while Hushpak provides a range of ready-made acoustic cladding and noise barriers, most projects – and particularly those involving mobile equipment – start with an evaluation of the problems that could be unique from one site and machine to another, with resulting solutions often being custom-designed.

WesTrac NSW Strategic Growth Manager Alan Corcoran said Hushpak had particular expertise working with customers in the Hunter Valley region.

“Hushpak’s ability to analyse noise sources and develop solutions using advanced acoustic engineering principles was of great interest to WesTrac,” Alan said.

“We were investigating ways to grow our own capability and the opportunity to acquire Hushpak allowed us to fast-track that growth by aligning with the best in the business.

“Many Hunter Valley mines require high standard solutions, which we can now provide alongside the Caterpillar sound suppression offering.

“Also, now that Hushpak is part of the WesTrac family, their staff can access far more information, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and meet the same reliability reputation that applies to all aspects of the Cat product.”

As well as providing solutions for all brands of mobile equipment, Hushpak caters for a wide range of fixed plant including crushers, vibratory screens and industrial buildings.
